It’s taken me a full two seasons of Nashville to finally forgive Tami Taylor for changing her name to Rayna, and cheating on Coach with the Mayor. To have that one role and one relationship define her career so persistently would surely be frustrating for Friday Night Lights‘ Connie Britton — but because she is quite clearly a perfect woman, she takes it all in her stride.

In April last year, Amy Schumer released a viral parody of the show, which managed to skewer campus rape culture on the one hand, while bringing the world this gif on the other:

On last night’s Late Night, Seth Meyers finally got Britton’s thoughts on the sketch.

“I was very flattered and honoured. Particularly of her use of the wine glass,” she says. “It really meant a lot to me because, you know, Tami’s wine glass was very important. It was my idea — I really felt very seen by Amy.”

In the clip, Britton also discusses how her and Kyle Chandler’s storied chemistry kicked off, with a long road trip from Los Angeles to Texas to commence shooting. “We found out later that everybody couldn’t care less about our experience, and was literally just terrified that we’d had an affair.”
