Remember that time on Married at First Sight when a bunch of grooms had a few beers and then spurned on by the “boy high” began to mock the physicality and intelligence of a woman named Cheryl? Ho ho, good times!

This particular episode was criticised harshly for promoting a toxic masculinity and a code of behaviour that can be excused with a ‘boys will be boys’ line of reasoning. Even worse was when Cheryl confronted her ‘husband’ Andrew about this betrayal, he and The Boys closed ranks and claimed it had never happened, turning on another contestant Sean, who had dared to stick up for Cheryl.

Well, it seems that Married at First Sight may just deliver some reality TV justice yet. During the season finale on Sunday and Monday (yes, they milked another week out of it) Channel 9’s promo reveals that all the contestants will be getting back together for an “explosive” dinner party and then the night after, will attend another reunion “where every scandalous secret comes out”.

The biggest secrets of the season have basically been, a) why did Lauren leave Andrew on the night they got married, and b) what the grooms really said about Cheryl that night, so it only makes sense that these would be the focus of the last few episodes.

Judging by the promo at the end of last night’s episode, during the dinner party, Lauren and Andrew have a fight that results in Lauren calling Andrew a “cocky little prick”. At the last episode reunion, the experts challenge Andrew by playing the Boy’s Night footage to the group. He looks very, very uncomfortable.

“Did that just refresh your memory?” says John Aiken, smug as hell. “Ahh, yes, well, absolutely,” says Andrew flustered.
