As we all know, the internet loves cats. Just between the well-known ‘Talking Cats‘, ‘Angry Cat‘ and ‘Nyan Cat‘, cat videos have been viewed on YouTube about 250-something million times. Those videos are incredibly lazy, though — there’s no narrative direction, the cinematography is cheap and haphazard, and the emotional resonance relies too much on inherent animal cuteness. If Roger Ebert was alive, he’d give them all two thumbs down.

Thankfully, cat videos have finally found their D.W. Griffiths. His name is Adam Cox, and his soon-to-be iconic cat video ‘Ginger Cat Vs The Paper Army’ is basically the Apocalypse Now of cat videos.

And with that, cat videos will never be the same again.

Oh wait, this cat drinks beer, look!
