Good news, Game of Thrones fans, your boy Gendry might finally be able to stop rowing. The GoT rumour mill is spinning once again with news that the bastard Baratheon son might be returning to the show for the upcoming seventh and final season.

Gendry, of course, was Arya Stark and Hot Pie’s travelling companion and the son of the late Robert Baratheon who was on the run from the Lannister supporters keen to see him out of the picture (and out of the line for the Iron Throne). Way back in season three, Melisandre got her mitts on him and tried to turn him into Dragonstone’s latest “blood sacrifice” victim, in aid of Stannis Baratheon’s bid for control of the seven kingdoms. Lucky for Gendry, noble Davos then set him free before any damage could be done, and last we saw he was rowing away, back in the direction of King’s Landing.

Well, that was three seasons ago, and since then fans have been wondering what happened to our fearless Bastard Baratheon.

UNTIL TODAY. According to a recent sighting by hardcore GoT rumour-mongers the Watchers on the Wall, Gendry might have actually found his way to some dry land. The fan site reported spotting actor Joe Dempsie, bags and all, trying to keep it lowkey and casual at an airport in Belfast, Northern Ireland — which just happens to be one of the key filming locations for GoT.

As Dempsie doesn’t appear to have any upcoming projects that might cause him to be in Belfast, chatter is brewing about the possible return of rowing champ/Iron Throne-contender Gendry returning to the show for the final season.

If you need more proof than a single airport sighting, the Watchers on the Wall also noted that GoT actor Iain Glen, who plays the forever alone Greyscale sufferer Jorrah Mormont, was spotted arriving in Belfast on the very same day as the incognito Dempsie. This is just hours after they reported seeing GoT stars Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams (who play Stark sisters Sansa and Arya) living it up in Belfast, shopping and taking photos with some lucky fans.

Surely this means we’ll be seeing Gendry back on our screens come season seven’s release in 2017. This reporter is just wondering how big his biceps got from all that rowing…
