The transformation of Lee Lin Chin from ‘very serious SBS newsreader with stylishly asymmetrical outfits‘ to ‘walking meme’ was complete a long time ago; probably around the time Australia’s newsreaders gathered to make an Anchorman-style fight video starring Lee Lin as a beer-guzzling psychopath.

Now she’s beginning to draw other public figures into her irresistible meme orbit. Pretty soon Australian public life outside of dank memes and viral videos will cease to exist. Elections will be decided based on which middle-aged political figure makes the best semi-ironic DJ, and who can get a cameo in a Friendlyjordies video. We are all of us hurtling together into the abyss.

Shhh. Just let it in.

Anyway! To boost her push for a Gold Logie, Lee Lin’s called on the services of well-known Marrickville identity DJ Albo, who’s also playing this weekend’s FBi SMACS festival at Sydney’s Carriageworks. This is how he unseats Bill Shorten as Labor leader after the next election: one sweat-drenched gig in key inner-city swing seats at a time.

That said, they do have good chemistry.
