Kanye West is back, baby!

After deleting his Instagram and Twitter accounts in May last year, Kanye has chosen Valentine’s Day to make a triumphant return to social media and express his love for wife Kim Kardashian West.

It’s a very wholesome and sweet return to the online word for Kanye, who has previously attracted controversy for many of his tweets. But he didn’t stop with that one post. No sir.

In the past four hours he’s posted another 38 times, and they’re all on the same theme: iconic couples throughout pop culture history. And he isn’t letting up, with more photos coming every few minutes.

There’s Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt:

There’s Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant:

There’s Jennifer Lopez and Diddy:

There’s even Princess Diana and Prince Charles:

And Carrie and Big!!!

Now on first glance you might think this is all extremely romantic content, keeping with the Valentine’s Day theme. But there’s some much darker going on. The vast majority of the photos Kanye is posting feature couples who have very publicly broken up.

In fact, it looks like only three of the couples posted are still in committed relationships: Barack and Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, and Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi.

For some reason Kanye keeps deleting and re-uploading different pictures of Ellen and Portia. For the moment he’s settled on this one:

In another weird twist Kanye has also posted a picture of Tupac and Aaliyah, who we’re pretty sure never actually dated… but they did both die in tragic circumstances. It’s a weird addition to Kanye’s new romantic moodboard Instagram.

It’s not the first time Kanye has paid his respects to Aaliyah. Back in 2004 he rapped a heartbreaking line about her on his debut album, The College Dropout.

So what does it all mean? Who knows, man. But in the time it took to write this article Kanye followed his very first account: Kim’s.

Ain’t love grand?
