Will we ever curb our dinosaur island addiction?

When the classic big dinosaur film Jurassic Park stomped into our hearts back in 1993, nobody would have thought that the story of overly-enthusiastic dinosaur cloners could be unnaturally stretched into a multi-million dollar franchise! But here we are, with the final trailer for the newest scaly offering in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Set four years after the events of Jurassic World, a volcano threatens to wipe out all the dinosaurs on Dinosaur Island, which I think we’re meant to believe is a bad thing. The fact that Chris Pratt and friends are trying to rescue the tooth-monsters via an elaborate air-lift has already been established in earlier trailers.

In this latest and final trailer, we see that the film doesn’t simply revolve around a reverse Operation Dumbo Drop, but also that a sinister organisation has taken the dinosaurs for nefarious purposes… and that purpose is cloning.

Friends don’t let friends clone dinosaurs.

It looks like in this case, they are mashing together a bunch of different dinosaur DNA in order to create a mega-bad scary fella, presumably for profit and kudos? Naturally, the dinosaur cannot be controlled, and escapes. Hijinks ensue. Wasn’t this the plot of 1997’s The Lost World?

Also, Chris Pratt’s velociraptor friend Blue is around too. She’s a good dinosaur.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens in theatres on June 22nd, 2018.
