Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has issued a lengthy apology to the photographer he kicked in the face at a show in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Photographer Chelsea Lauren was shooting the band from the pit at the front of the stage when Homme struck her camera, which then collided with her face. She was hospitalised and later told Variety that she would most likely press charges against the singer.

Homme briefly responded yesterday on Twitter, claiming he was in “a state of being lost in performance” when the incident took place. Now the frontman has shared a longer apology on QOTSA’s Facebook page, admitting that he doesn’t have “any excuse or reason to justify what I did.” The video has now been viewed close to a million times.

“Last night at a Queens of the Stone Age performance, I kicked the camera of a photographer. That photographer was Chelsea Lauren,” Homme said. “I’d just like to apologise to Chelsea Lauren. I don’t have any excuse or reason to justify what I did. I was a total dick. I’m truly sorry and I hope you’re okay.”

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, and last night was definitely one of them, and I apologise for that to you,” he added. “I want to be a good man but I think last night I definitely failed at that.” Homme then apologised to his family, friends, and bandmates: “I don’t want them to ever be ashamed or embarrassed to be around me or knowing me.”

“I’m gonna have to figure out some stuff I think,” he finished. “Rock ‘n’ roll is a wonderful thing. It’s supposed to save and help people, not mess them up.”
