Jon Stewart Is Retiring From The Daily Show

First Stephen Colbert, now Jon Stewart. According to The AV Club, the long-time Daily Show host announced to a live audience during the taping of the latest episode that he will be retiring from the show after 17 years.

Comedy Central confirmed Stewart’s retirement in a statement tweeted out a short time ago.

It’s not yet known when Stewart will be retiring, but going by Comedy Central’s statement the Daily Show is likely to continue with a new host. Stewart has hosted the Daily Show since January 1999, and quickly established himself as a highly respected and influential host.
