Man, J.K. Rowling is super into this whole wizard thing, huh. I mean, she is really flogging that dead horse. Speaking at a Warner Brothers event in London today, the author has revealed that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is actually the first in a new five part film series, because she’s J.K. Rowling and she can do whatever the hell she wants.

Rowling will be writing the screenplays for the new movies, and is apparently almost finished with the second one. We’d previously heard rumblings that the Harry Potter spin-off would be a trilogy, with the first sequel due to hit cinemas in November 2018.

But here’s the thing: you can sell a lot more tickets to five movies than you can to three.

Meanwhile, director David Yates has confirmed that the first Fantastic Beasts film will feature a cameo by a young Albus Dumbledore, along with another character from the Potter universe in Gellert Grindelwald. Presumably they’ll be getting their own spin-offs as well, before too long.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them hits cinemas on November 17.
