Avengers: Infinity War is coming out next month, and people are excited for the huge Marvel event — it looks like almost every superhero in the universe is popping their head in to fight Thanos. In fact, it’s been billed as the “most ambitious crossover event in history” — but not everyone on the internet agrees with that huge assertion.

Nobody is saying that Avengers: Infinity War isn’t a BIG crossover event, as we’re not only getting all the Avengers, we’re getting the folks from Guardians of the Galaxy, we’re getting Spiderman, we’re getting a whole bunch of people from Wakanda… it’s a big Marvel party and everyone’s invited. But is it the biggest in history?

Because the internet never lets anyone get away with anything, people have started pointing out that actually there’s been much more epic crossovers in the history of pop-culture, and some of the examples are actually astounding.

When did Luke Skywalker go on The Muppets? When did Angela Lansbury meet Magnum PI? Why did the Power Rangers hang out with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Because the world is a beautiful place, that’s why.

We’ve truly had some wild times in television history. But of course, once a meme is born, it mutates, it grows, it becomes something that we could never foresee.

The beauty of this meme lies in unbridled optimism and hope, that two or more unrelated things might come together and make something better. We all love Windows 95 AND Rachel and Chandler from Friends — and now finally they’re together. The premise is always solid.

But we also have to remember that sometimes, things need to stay in their own lanes.
