Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea created history earlier today by becoming just the second artist to hold the top two spots of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her first two chart entries. Sadly, it was a brief stay, as John Legend leapfrogged Azalea’s ‘Fancy’ and ‘Problem’ after only a few hours with sappy ballad ‘All Of Me’. Yep, apparently people are still into John Legend.

As reported by Junkee sister site FasterLouder, it is the first time that the feat has been achieved since The Beatles’ famous appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show 50 years ago. That performance caused such a sensation that ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand’ and ‘She Loves You’ immediately vaulted to number one and number two in the charts respectively. Azalea has also made a notable TV appearance recently on Dancing With The Stars, but it was mainly notable for the sound issues that plagued the performance. Still, all publicity’s good publicity, and the Clueless-inspired clip for ‘Fancy’ has racked up over 58 million YouTube views since then.

As well as matching The Beatles’ 50 year-old record, Azalea’s also only the fourth female rapper to top the chart (after Lauryn Hill, Lil’ Kim and Shawnna), and the third woman to hold down the top two places, after Mariah Carey and Ashanti. Azalea herself was sufficiently excited to tweet the following:

This also means that Azalea’s detractors have no choice but to pipe down and admit that Azalea is quantifiably as popular and as talented as the Fab Four. Sorry, haters.
