When news broke that Fox was doing a crossover between New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, viewers could be forgiven for feeling a little bit concerned. While not an uncommon phenomenon, particularly in the bygone nineties, crossover eps aren’t always looked upon too fondly by fans. Anyone remember when the cast of Gilligan’s Island showed up on ALF? Good times.

That all being said, we’re approaching TV’s latest mash-up with a degree of cautious optimism, particularly after catching our first glimpse of footage. While it’s a pretty short promo, from what we can tell it looks like the one-hour double episode will stay more or less true to what we like about both shows. Which is to say we get to watch Andy Samberg say stupid stuff and Zooey Deschanel fall over.
According to Deadline, the crossover episodes will see Jess (Deschanel) travel to New York, only to find herself caught up helping Detective Jake Peralta (Samberg) in one of his investigations. And then, y’know, comedy.
