The trailer was released overnight. And it was very much worth the wait.

The first look at Joel and Ethan Coen’s brand new film Hail, Caesar! has finally arrived, and oh my god if it was any more Coen-y the Earth would be thrown off its axis and the universe would implode (read: really bloody good).

First revealed as a thing that would be happening way back in 2004, the film was shelved (into what I like to imagine was a big garage of Coen plot ideas and Steve Buscemi’s sleeping quarters) for years until it was picked back up again in late 2013. It follows Eddie Mannix (played by Coen fave Josh Brolin), a 1950’s Hollywood ‘fixer’ trying to find big-time movie star Baird Whitlock (played by other Coen fave George Clooney), who was kidnapped by “The Future” during the filming of — yep, you guessed it — Hail, Caesar!.

Predictably, the film has a huge Coen-y lineup, and also stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Ralph Fiennes and… Channing Tatum?

Wut.

Also, Clooney’s idiot Whitlock character is eerily reminiscent of all the other idiot Cohen characters he’s played and I am totally okay with that — Clooney plays a damn fine idiot.

Hail, Caesar! will be out in US cinemas on February 5, 2016 — stay tuned for an Australian release date.
