If you count yourself a Fooeys fan, it’s time to stop what you’re doing and make tracks for Sydney’s Oxford Arts Factory. From 1pm today, OAF will be selling hard copy tickets to a very special show: a surprise appearance from Chevy Metal, the covers band led by Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins.

Chevy Metal — that’s Grohl, Hawkins plus friends Wiley Hodgen and Brent Woods — will be covering songs from the likes of AC/DC, Van Halen and Queen tonight at Oxford Art Factory. Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins are currently in town to promote the new Foo Fighters album Concrete and Gold.

Tickets are only $20 each, but you’ll have to be at OAF in person this afternoon if you want one. The venue will start selling tickets at 1pm sharp, with each transaction limited to one ticket per person. And no, you can’t get your mate to grab one for you: “each person wishing to attend the show must physically be at the venue at the time of purchase to be issued a wristband and ticket for entry,” Chevy Metal have made clear.

“The wristband will be attached to the purchaser at the time of the transaction and to gain entry they must wear the wristband and present their ticket for scanning to get access.” Godspeed.
