Over the past two days, millions of people came together to speak out against bigotry and fear. Inspired by Donald Trump’s inauguration, Women’s Marches took place on every continent, in hundreds of major cities, as ordinary people turned up in droves to reject the divisive rhetoric of far-right populists around the world.

It was beautiful. It was inspiring. And naturally, Pauline Hanson found the whole thing very confusing.

“Don’t these clowns have anything else better to do with their time other than to hold sad, anti-democracy protests?” the One Nation leader asked in a Facebook post on Sunday morning. “Why on earth would anyone want to walk around in this heat chanting about One Nation and the new President of the United States of America, Donald Trump?”

Senator Hanson’s post was accompanied by video of protesters marching through Brisbane on Saturday. Around 400 people turned out for the rally, and were heard chanting “Donald Trump go to hell, take One Nation there as well.”

“I suppose it’s good that they were out and about and doing a bit of walking because it looked like a few of them needed to get a bit of sun and do a bit exercise [sic],” Hanson added. Charming.

Of course it makes sense that Hanson would throw her support behind Trump after she was personally invited to his inauguration. Oh wait no, nevermind.

As for why people might want to protest Trump and One Nation? I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it’s all the racist policies. Just a wild guess.
