Kickass news — Deadpool is finally getting his own movie. Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Comics have finally given it the green light; Deadpool is going ahead and will hit cinemas on February 12, 2016, and will most likely star the One True Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds.

A possible Deadpool movie has been touted for years, but nothing was ever confirmed by skittish movie studios. Back in July some test footage leaked online and sparked intense fan speculation, which might have helped twist the studio’s arm.

A Deadpool movie has been Reynolds’ baby for a long time, and while he’s not yet confirmed to star, he’s a fan favourite and it’d be nuts not to cast him. If he does get cast and the movie gets made the way he wants (swearing and all), there’s a pretty good chance Deadpool will carry an R rating in the States, which may explain why Fox has been cagey to commit in the past. Hopefully Reynolds can get his way and Deadpool will be the best damn superhero movie since, like, ever.
