After quietly breaking our collective hearts by going and getting itself cancelled in March, Community might be returning for a sixth season. As reported by Josef Adalian for Vulture, Sony, the studio behind Dan Harmon’s beloved creation, have entered into discussions with Hulu, the not-as-popular-as-Netflix streaming service, about reviving the show. The move would make a lot of sense: Community reruns are currently the number one-ranked show on Hulu, while Community‘s hashtag-happy fans have tirelessly lobbying NBC, Dan Harmon and the world at large to give them their #sixseasonsandamovie.

Adalian goes on to describe several reasons why we shouldn’t get too excited about that sixth season, but they’re not super-convincing, and more importantly, they’re not as much fun as wild speculation. If you must know, it’s because: a) discussions are just discussions and not something as formal as contract negotiations, and b) Hulu are still looking for their signature show, a la Orange Is The New Black, and a pre-existing show, even one as (mostly) beloved as Community, can’t fill that role.

Hulu isn’t available in Australia yet, of course, but the same technique that you’re already using to access Netflix will work for Hulu as well. Unlike Netflix, though, Hulu have been actively upping their geo-security measures, which sounds bad, but might actually mean that Hulu are gearing up for an Australian launch.

But don’t muddle your head with thoughts such as these. Go back to your happy place: Greendale.
