Bill Murray spent his weekend serving drinks at his son Homer’s new restaurant and bar, because he’s Bill Murray and that’s just the sort of thing that Bill Murray does. The actor and comedian rocked up to his shift on Friday night in an Uber he split with a random stranger, after his car broke down in The Bronx. He was reportedly carrying a stuffed badger wearing a smoking jacket (see again: Bill Murray does whatever the hell Bill Murray wants).

According to The New York Post Murray wasn’t much of a bartender, steering clear of the Brooklyn venue’s complicated cocktail menu in favour of whisky and tequila shots. Not that we imagine the customers would have been complaining. He was also seen knocking back shots himself, and later told the paper that the hardest thing about the job was “finding the right glass.”

In a toast made to the crowd of around 100 people, Murray declared that he was happy his son “has not continued in the family business,” saying that “instead he has taken the joy of the family — to have a drink, to have a meal and have friends together — and made it his life’s work.”
