Australia’s Next Top Gronk: The Official Junkee #AusVotes 2016 Election Liveblog

It’s finally here! After eight weeks of campaigning, Election 2016 is upon at at last. A nation waits in breathless apathy to see whether Malcolm Turnbull will win his first election as Prime Minister only to be rolled by his party in 16 months, or whether Bill Shorten can pull of the most unlikely of victories and bring Labor back into government after only a single term in the wilderness only to be rolled by his party in 16 months.

Who will emerge victorious? Which party will take the nation’s reins for the next three years? Will the Penrith Panthers, poised on the outside of the Top 8, steal a much-needed victory against the Wests Tigers and set themselves up for a finals berth? Can Matt Moylan and Josh Mansour back up from their Origin efforts? Who will free the hundreds of refugees rotting in offshore detention from the living hell to which we as a nation have condemned them? (Just kidding on that last one, no one will.)

All these questions and many more will be briefly examined and ultimately answered with a “meh” on this, the Official Junkee Election 2016 Liveblog. God help us all.
