Australia’s Isaiah Firebrace has shimmied through to the Eurovision Grand Final after nabbing one of the ten qualifying spots in this morning’s semi-final in Ukraine. This proves, once again, that Australia is one of the best European countries out there.

The 17-year-old performed his power ballad ‘Don’t Come Easy’ in Kyiv early this morning Australian time, and despite some vocal difficulties (he stumbled on a high note midway through the song) he managed to impress Europe enough to land a spot in Sunday’s Grand Final. Check out his semi-final performance below.

Moldova, Azerbaijan, Greece, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Armenia, Australia, Cyprus and Belgium also made it through to the final.

The second semi-final will be held Friday morning AEST time, with another 18 countries battling it out for a position in the grand final. The Big Five (Italy, UK, France, Spain, Germany) are already assured a place in the final, which takes places Sunday morning AEST.

The hot favourites to win are Portugal’s Salvador Sobral and Sweden’s Robin Bengtsson, although Italy’s Francesco Gabbani is also in with a chance — he’s singing a boppy pop song assisted by gorilla back-up dancers… so you know. Get across all the broadcast times below.
