A British Talk Show Host Finally Let Tom Hardy Share The Stage With A Bunch Of Dogs

This is the face of a man who is about to hold a basset hound.

In April 2015, Vanity Fair did the world a favour and published an article that by now seems inevitable: ‘An Oral History Of Tom Hardy’s Love Of Dogs’.

The exhaustive post collated every mention of dogs the British actor had ever made, ordering it in a handy timeline that included quotes like this:

“I feel sorry for a poodle because he’s a dog. You know, a dog is a fucking great creature. They would do anything for you. And the poodle gets a haircut. No one asks if the poodle wants his hair cut like that.”

The timeline tells a sad tale of the loss of Hardy’s beloved staffie-labrador cross Max, who he used to take to drama school. Max passed away in 2011, a loss which apparently caused Hardy to take literally any role that was either named after him, or allowed him to be near and/or hold a variety of puppies.

Tom Hardy’s love of dogs has proven so bankable, in fact, that earlier this month he attended the London premiere of his new film Legend with his new dog, Woody. Woody forwent any semblance of respectability by immediately chasing a pigeon down the red carpet.

It should come as no surprise, then, that an Instagram account has been set up to amass photos of Tom Hardy holding dogs, called Tom Hardy Holding Dogs. So far, the owners have collected 146 images, two of which came from this weekend’s episode of UK talk show Chatty Man with Alan Carr — in which the eponymous host invited Hardy and a tentative Woody on stage, before surprising them both with a series of other dogs. Woody immediately knew what was up.

Delighting everyone, Tom Hardy knows the correct way to address a Basset Hound:

“Hell-oooooooOH.”

Here he is with a great dane:

And here are some more photos from Tom Hardy Holding Dogs, because Monday.

We are all this dog.

I’ve had this dream many times, only it didn’t involve a dog.
