I think we can all agree that Liza Miller sucks.

In case you missed the news, we finally have a premiere date for the final season of Younger — and it’s less than a month away!

Last week Stan announced that a whopping four episodes of the comedy-drama would hit the streaming service on April 16. This means we’re less than a month away from finally knowing what will happen to Liza Miller, after spending the last six seasons watching the 40-year-old terribly hide her age from everyone at Empirical Press and flip-flopping between two (very fine) men.

At the end of Season 6, audiences were left with a huge cliffhanger around the Team Josh or Team Charles saga with Charles literally proposing to Liza in the middle of Diana’s wedding reception. But because Liza is, well, Liza, Younger fans know it’s not going to be as easy as a simple “yes”. Of course, despite being in a happy relationship with Charles, Liza spent much of Season 6 still dealing with her unresolved feelings for Josh.

Really it’s just been six seasons of Liza constantly going around in circles because she wants the best of both words with Josh and Charles, and, frankly it’s just annoying at this point. In fact, a lot of the characters in Younger are quite annoying.

So, in honour of Season 7 starting up soon, we’ve decided to rank the cast of Younger from least annoying to truly insufferable:

10. Maggie Amato

The biggest MVP of Younger is easily Maggie, the iconic artist who throws sex parties and lets her best friend stay in her very cool, and strangely large, apartment in Brooklyn absolutely RENT-FREE.

Beyond the whole free accomodation thing, Maggie always supports Liza’s horrific decisions, and as one of the only people knowing Liza’s terrible age lie from the start, Maggie helps Liza navigate her new life as a rebranded 26-year-old when no one else can.

But even when Liza and Josh break up, Mags doesn’t turn her back on Josh and still helps him through his Liza-related issues like a true friend.

9. Diana Trout

Younger really tries to paint Diana as the villain of the show, when she’s actually one of the most likeable characters of the lot.

Look, I’m just going to say it. There was absolutely no way that Diana really believed that Liza was genuinely ever the 26-year-old she claimed to be, but she was still kind enough to give Liza a job. Plus, Diana has worked hard enough to earn the ability to be demanding of Liza, whose job is to quite literally assist Diana and all of her needs, so she can’t really be seen as a “bitch” for how she operates at work.

I’ll admit that Diana’s early infatuation with Charles was a little annoying, but she has since grown as a character, loosened up and realised her worth as the seasons went on. Really, as mean and emotionless the writers try to make Diana seem, she is actually very generous and attentive. For example, when Liza couldn’t afford the $1,800 for her daughter’s tuition, Diana just left out a cheque without any fuss or complaint.

This is why it’s so satisfying that Diana gets her happy ending with Enzo at the end of Season 6. We love to see boss bitches win.

Annoying level: 2/10

8. Lauren Heller

As a character, Lauren is fine. She’s a good friend and a bit of fun, but just doesn’t really understand what real life is like for the rest of her friends because she lives a pretty cushy life with her parents.

Lauren is good at her job, sure. She understands PR and gets shit done, but Lauren also gets way too easily irked by things not being as ~cool and quirky~ as she is, which is pretty annoying. But Lauren does get some brownie points for, like Maggie, generously opening up her home for Kelsey to stay in.

Annoying level: 3/10

7. Josh

Alright, it’s time to admit: Josh is the superior boyfriend in Younger. However, Charles is the more appropriate partner for Liza in terms of age, interests and life experiences.

Josh is a great guy (mostly). When he didn’t know Liza’s real age, he never judged her for not having done certain things and took the wannabe-26-year-old on a bunch of exciting adventures which gave her a new sense of life. And when Josh discovered Liza’s actual age, once he got over the initial shock, he handled the news very well, still accepting her and keeping the secret.

However, once the pair broke up, Josh did turn into a bit of a dick. You know, with the whole kissing Kelsey thing and having Liza witness his marriage to another woman all the way in Ireland.

Annoying level: 4/10

6. Zane Anders

Despite what Kelsey may have you think, Zane isn’t actually that annoying.

Yes, he may have worked behind Kelsey back with Charles’ on a new publishing house but what else is he meant to do? Just stop progressing in his career to not hurt Kelsey’s feelings when she’s scared of commitment and won’t settle down anyway?

If we’re being honest, Zane only comes off bad because he and Kelsey have the exact same type of personality. They both want to win by any means and will back-stab each other to do so, which is why they make such a beautiful, toxic couple.

Annoying level: 4.5/10

5. Charles Brooks

While Charles is definitely the better partner for Liza, you got to admit he is pretty boring.

Charles definitely started off as a suave silver fox, where it was easy to see why Liza’s had such a big crush. But as the seasons passed, Charles grew less and less desirable, and just went from daddy to… plain old dad.

Yes, Charles has money, is successful, and is very kind, but something about him just doesn’t sit right with me. Perhaps it was his infatuation with, what he thought at the time to be, one of his 26-year-old workers, or maybe it’s that he spent ages scheming behind Liza’s back with his new imprint, Mercury, after the pair finally got together. Something just doesn’t sit right about this man.

Annoying level: 5/10

4. Kelsey Peters

Credit: TV Land

Kelsey cares about things far too much and, in true millennial style, gives way too many fucks about a job that doesn’t care about her.

Maybe I find Kelsey so annoying because I see too much of myself in her and I don’t like getting read to filth, but Kelsey just needs to chill out. Kelsey makes every argument much bigger than it needs to be. Every revelation is relationship or friendship-ending, whether it be when nit-picking reasons not to be with Zane or icing out Liza after finding out about her ~big secret~.

Plus, Kelsey just kinda sucks. For example, even though Liza lied about her age, I think moving in with your best friend’s ex-boyfriend and kissing him is a little bit of a dramatic way to react. The biggest issue with Kelsey, however, is that she’s obnoxious and self-centred but refuses to own it the way Diana does, which means she doesn’t have the same charm and is infinitely more annoying.

Annoying level: 6.5/10

3. Caitlin Miller

Caitlin is so fucking annoying, good Lord.

Everything is a problem even when it’s not. Imagine getting mad at your mum for getting a job and finding a hot boyfriend, after she literally paused her life for approximately 20 years to raise you. Honestly, how dare your mother find herself a job she likes after your scumbag father not only cheated, but gambled away all the family money and sent your mum into debt, right?

Plus, why be such a brat when your mum, who simply just lied about her age, is working to send YOU to school?! Ungrateful and annoying. But you know what they say: Like mother, like daughter.

Annoying level: 8/10

2. Thad Steadman

Before his baffling falling steel beam death, Thad was annoying as hell.

He treated Kelsey like garbage, only cared about himself, and was hell-bent on blackmailing Liza with her secret before he met his untimely demise. Thad is basically the poster boy for every toxic finance business bro ever, and that is why he ranks so highly.

Annoying level: 10/10

1. Liza Miller

Credit: TV Land

There is no denying that Liza Miller is the most annoying part of Younger. But the most infuriating aspect of Liza isn’t the non-stop whining, love of playing the victim, and the constant lying.

No, the most annoying part of Liza is the assumption that anyone would ever believe she could pass as 26. I mean, come on. The plot of this show should’ve unraveled the second Liza said she was in her 20s if we’re being honest with ourselves.

But beyond the whole age thing, Liza’s indecisiveness, even though it is the entire plotline for the show, is just so painfully annoying. When Liza is with Josh, she suddenly lusts for Charles. But when Charles is front and centre, Liza goes off reminicisng about Josh again. Liza just wants the best of both worlds all the time. In the real world, if you flip-flopped between two men so often, you’d just end up single and alone.

Plus, Liza also only cares about herself, making her a trash friend, partner and employee. For example, Liza couldn’t even bear the thought of having to hang out at the bluegrass festival with Josh, which is one of the only things he has asked of her over the last six seasons.

Or take Liza’s relationship with Maggie, a friend who puts Liza up in her loft rent-free in New York. Every single conversation the pair have only ever revolve around Liza and all her problems. Then there was that time when Thad died, and Liza decided to tell Kelsey that her dead fiancé was cheating on her instead of just being an adult owning up to the fact that lied about her age?

Honestly, at this point my only hope in Season 7 is that Liza goes and gets some damn therapy to deal with her issues. ASAP.
