Today we lost a bona fide rock and roll legend, with the news that singer-songwriter Chuck Berry has passed away. The man behind iconic tracks including ‘Roll Over Beethoven’ and ‘Johnny B. Goode’ was 90 years old.
As is always the case when a beloved public figure dies, the tributes have already begun rolling in from the artists whose work Berry helped shape.

If you were in any doubt as to exactly how good Berry was, check out the following clip of him rehearsing his song ‘Carol’ with Keith Richards from the 1987 concert film Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll. After bickering for several minutes over the way the Rolling Stones guitarist was playing the opening riff, Berry decides to jump in himself and proceeds to take Richards to school.
