If you’re not already across Tyne-James Organ, you should be.

The Sydney artist has just released one of the best albums of the year so far in the slick and spiky (and heavily Gang of Youths-influenced) Necessary Evil. And he’s currently tearing around the country (well, the states he can get into anyway) for his headlining album tour — get all the dates and details here.

So it was his deserved turn at Like A Version this morning, and he took on a beloved indie classic: The Kooks’ ‘Naive’.

“I chose to cover ‘Naive’ because of my sister,” he told triple j in the accompanying interview. “It’s one of her favourite songs of all time. She introduced me to The Kooks when I was like 12 and all in all, I forgot to buy my sister a birthday present so this is it.

“This song is very nostalgic. And I think the reason I’m really enjoying it right now is because it’s got that festival feel to it, and that’s something the whole world is missing so much. It takes you back to that moment where you can just imagine being in a massive crowd, singing along to it.”

He also performed his stunning track ‘Heal You’, from Necessary Evil. Get around both performances, and watch Organ’s interview, below.
