Turns Out Tommy Little Has A Good Reason For Suddenly Getting Naked All Over Instagram
He's getting his kit off for a good cause.
Comedian Tommy Little is reinventing himself as an Instagram model. Well, sort of. For the past ten days, he’s been posting some out-of-character and very revealing photos of himself on social media, much to the confusion of his followers. But on Tuesday Little revealed that the snaps are actually part of a campaign to draw attention to youth homelessness and the organisations trying to fight it.
Little explained the situation on last night’s episode of The Project, telling the panel that recent census data shows that around 116,000 Australians are homeless, and that a third of that number are under the age of 25.
“When I was young, the biggest stress I had was whether or not I’d run out of LYNX Africa, so I can only imagine how awful homelessness must be,” Little joked.
The comedian also drew attention to the “bullshit” of “hostile architecture” — the practice of designing cities to make them less accommodating to rough sleepers through methods such as putting armrests in the middle of public benches and limiting access to public toilets.
So what does any of this have to do with Little flexing his abs on the internet? Well it turns out that the clothes he was modelling in his Insta photos were purchased from HoMie, a Melbourne-based charity that uses 100 percent of its profits to help homeless Australians.
Not only that, but each image was taken in a location where “instead of being met with hostility, Aussies affected by homelessness instead find kindness.” One was taken outside Launch Housing, which provides housing and support to homeless people, while another was taken inside HoMie’s Melbourne store.
Little has since gone back and added captions to the photos encouraging his followers to support homeless charities.
