Tkay Maidza has returned with her first new single of 2020, the blistering ‘Shook’.

It’s the Adelaide rapper’s first single since she scored an ARIA nomination for her JPEGMAFIA collab ‘Awake’ last year, and the solo track ‘IDC IF U BE DED’.

It’s not the first look at her wildly anticipated second album just yet — her self-titled first record dropped way back in 2016 — but Maidza let slip on Twitter that we can expect two EPs sometime soon.

The EPs, as she told NME Australia, are followups to 2018’s EP Last Year Was Weird (Vol.1). “I’ll be announcing more details soon, but there is definitely a lot more music on the way,” she flagged. “All I’ll say for now is that ‘Last Year Was Weird’ is a trilogy.”

‘Shook’ also marks her first release as part of the 4AD label, which hosts acts such as Grimes, Purity Ring, and The National. Check out ‘Shook’ below, which comes with a video directed by Jenna Marsh — who has worked with Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, and Nicki Minaj, so Tkay is in good company.
