A lot of us have that ex-“friend” or family member who, when you show your solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, wants to misuse statistics in an attempt to “shut you down”.

There’s been a lot of such people on the internet recently. They’re trolls. Post anything about the protests gripping the United States, or the many, many video recordings of police violence, and they’ll try and respond with some bullshit set of statistics that they cribbed from one conservative website that lets them continue living their life of sad ignorance.

You know the sort of lies these people use. They’ll point you to a graph that shows African-American people have higher incarceration rates, or that white people suffer more violence each year, or some other selectively deployed — or straight up incorrect — set of data points.

Obviously, such people are always wrong, and are in incredibly bad faith. So sometimes, all you want is a quick and easy way to shut them down.

Well, TikTok users @alexengelberg and @rynnstar have provided you one in the form of a very short song you can blast to these idiots.

“Black neighbourhoods are overpoliced, so of course they have higher rates of crime,” goes the song. “And all of those stupid stats you are using are operating of a small sample size.

“So shut up! Shut up, shut up, shut up.”

Basically, the whole thing is a work of art. You can enjoy it in full here, and don’t forget to drop it in the comments the next time your deadbeat uncle tries to, “well actually” you.
