This Anti-Gambling Ad Ended Up Saying That Gambling Is Awesome By Mistake

"Gambling's bad, kids. Except when you win. Then it's awesome."

In the run-up to the World Cup, The National Council for Problem Gambling in Singapore released what would have been a pretty powerful and touching ad about how gambling can ruin people’s lives.

Unfortunately for the Council, but very fortunately for Andy, Andy’s dad made it rain — Germany thrashed Brazil in the semis and went on to beat Argentina 1-0 in the final, making the message of the PSA less “gambling is a terrible blight on society” and more “sure, gambling’s a risk, but when you win it’s better than crack”.

A bunch of ‘reworked’ ads have since popped up on YouTube, in which Andy’s dad is a suave gambling genius casually racking up the bills like he’s James Bond in Casino Royale.

John Oliver got in on the act as well, filming a series of ads on Last Week Tonight where Andy’s clothes get progressively more swagtastic until it literally starts raining money from the sky.

Germany are at 5/1 odds to win the Cup in 2018, which mean if Andy’s dad bets it all and comes up trumps again, he can probably buy a house just for all his fancy shoes.
