In September last year, Warner Brothers had their press run well and truly fucked up by a leak at Comic Con which resulted in their “exclusive first look” of Suicide Squad coating every single surface of the internet. We saw Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. We had our first look at Jared Leto’s long-awaited portrayal of The Joker. We got the general gist of the film — one which looks great, yet also seems to heavily draw from the dark brooding fare of its fellow DC film franchises of Batman and Superman.

This would have made the task of one-upping themselves in the film’s official trailer particularly difficult. How do you recreate the hype of the original? How can you re-frame now-seen footage in a way that will seem fresh and exciting? That’s presumably when they thought of this:

The dead-set legend who suggested whacking on Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and syncing their entire movie to it deserves every payrise in the world. This is how all films should be made.

Suicide Squad will be in Australian cinemas from August 4.
