Netflix has been getting into the horror game in a big way recently.

After all, last year, they released a bevy of unsettling content, led by the bloody folk horror bad time Apostle and haunted woods chiller The Ritual. Never one to disappoint, this year they’ve gone even further, with a whole bunch of blood-splattered films and shows here to upset you this October.

Chief amongst those chilling supernatural delights: the extremely fucked-up backwoods horror flick In The Tall Grass.

The film is based on a novella co-written by horror maestro Stephen King and his son, and fellow horror novelist Joe Hill. Following a pair of siblings, Cal and Becky, as they make a cross-country road-trip through America, things quickly go awry as the pair are lured into — you guessed it — the tall grass. There, they become confused by random time jumps, lose any sense of direction and purpose, and are eventually viciously set upon by otherworldly creatures. Get ready for a lot of unsettling slurping noises, basically.

The film version of the story has been helmed by one Vincenzo Natali. Though he’s been relatively quiet over the last few decades, Natali would probably be best known to you as the man behind cult horror classic Cube, a film about people getting murdered in a large cube. Fun!

And boy does In The Tall Grass have some strong Cube vibes, from the growing sense of unease, weird time jumps, and constant aural distractions.

The trailer for the forthcoming film is pretty light on plot, but extremely heavy on fucked-up shit, ranging from creepy ass birds, creepy ass kids, and a lot of blood. Check it out below, but be warned — it’ll probably deeply upset you.

Guess we’ll find out just how shitty grass can be when the film drops on Netflix on October 4.
