Man With Regular TV, Radio, And Print Media Platforms Claims He’s Being Silenced

"It seems — if you bother to read this sewer of commentary — that if you are white or old and a male then you are expected to not have a view on anything."

Regular radio and television commentator Steve Price has penned an opinion piece in a national masthead claiming that old, white men in Australia are being silenced by cancel culture and isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?

On Friday, Price penned an op-ed entitled Cancel culture seeking to silence anything but left, woke opinions in the Herald Sun, proving that — despite their questionable takes — old, white men in Australia will never struggle to blast their opinions to the masses.

The article in question followed Price’s appearance on The Project last Monday, in which he threw a tantrum over the idea of replacing the Australian flag. And, as you’d expect, his antics on national television quickly resulted in him being widely criticised online.

But instead of owning his questionable take, Price has doubled down on his initial point, also rejecting the idea that maybe, just maybe, The Project could have included some First Nations voices in the conversation.

“The feral left wound themselves into a cancel culture frenzy online like we have never seen before. The common theme seemed to be that it was somehow disrespectful to even have the debate about our flag without a member of what we now call a First Nations person on the desk,” said Price in his op-ed. “It seems — if you bother to read this sewer of commentary — that if you are white or old and a male then you are expected to not have a view on anything, let alone on an important treasured national symbol like the flag.”

Despite his opinion piece trying to push the narrative that he is being silenced, Price then went on to stress that he has “been on The Project desk once or twice a week for more than 11 years”, which — by definition — is not being silenced.

For those playing along at home, Price is currently a regular on The Project, hosts a daily radio show on Triple M, and pens a weekly column in the Herald Sun. It cannot be stressed enough that this man has a huge platform on all three major media formats to shout his opinions to the masses on a weekly basis.

In an incredible display of irony, Price then went on to remind us of his 26 years on talkback radio.

“Normally I pay no attention to any of them or their mindless contributions but to suggest your age, colour and sex – old white man – rules you out from having an opinion if it doesn’t agree with theirs is just plain wrong,” said Price. “These tribes need to be called out, not bowed down to, because everyone is entitled to their point of view. I’ve spent the best part of 26 years on talkback radio allowing anyone who wants to have a view get on air unless they swear or defame someone.”
