Tributes are pouring in for Marvel publisher Stan Lee, who passed away overnight at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 95.

A legend in the comic book industry, Lee is best known as the creator or co-creator of Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Black Panther, Daredevil, Doctor Strange and countless other iconic superheroes. He also famously cameoed in nearly every single film adaptation of his work.

The news of Lee’s passing has been met with an outpouring of grief. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who heads up the Marvel Cinematic Universe, said in a statement that Lee had left “an extraordinary legacy that will outlive us all”, adding that “our thoughts are with his daughter, his family and the millions of fans who have been forever touched by Stan’s genius, charisma and heart”.

Meanwhile, a number of actors famous for playing Marvel superheroes have taken to social media to pay their respects.
