Someone Finally Made The Video Of John Howard DJing We’ve All Been Waiting For

Everyone knows former Prime Minister John Howard DJ’s like a mad cunt. It’s one of the most venerable memes in our political history. Last year Buzzfeed Australia actually tracked down the legend behind the meme, Matt Adams. The article highlighted the vital role our sister website, inthemix, played in launching the meme to national prominence. And today, nearly a decade after it was first published, it’s finally been brought to life.

Today John Howard gave a speech at the National Press Club in Canberra where he said a lot of boring, and some quite terrible, things. Howard said that there could never be equal representation of women in Parliament because they “play a significantly greater part of fulfilling the caring role”.

“It’s not a terrible thing to say, it just happens to be the truth, and occasionally you’ve just got to recognise that and say it,” Howard still, reminding everyone why he was booted out of Parliament in 2007.

It might be accurate to say that women currently fulfil more caring responsibilities than men, but doesn’t that mean it’s incumbent on people in power to do what they can to rectify that imbalance?

Look, it’s unlikely anything positive was ever going to come out John Howard’s address to the National Press Club. After all, it is John Howard and it is the National Press Club. But it turns out there was a silver lining. Some genius has brought the “John Howard DJ’s like a mad cunt” meme to life, using footage from today’s speech.
