On Sunday, a male interviewer asked actress Sharon Stone if she’s ever experienced sexual harassment. Actually, the specific question he asked was whether she’d ever been put in a position where she felt uncomfortable, in her decades of experience in Hollywood.

If you’re a woman, it will probably not shock you to hear that she responded by laughing for a good ten seconds, because come on dude, of course she has. You’d be hard pressed to meet a woman who’s never experienced some kind of sexual harassment — especially in the entertainment industry, as Stone herself pointed out.

“I’ve been in this business for 40 years,” Stone said, once she’d stopped laughing. “Can you imagine the business I stepped into forty years ago? Looking like I look? From nowhere Pennsylvania?”

“I didn’t come here with any protection,” she said. “I’ve seen it all”.

The video of this whole exchange is, quite frankly, incredible. Look at the way she smiles pityingly at him, as if to say oh you poor, naive man, how could you not know? Look at the way the interviewer is totally taken aback by her laughter, as if the extent of sexual harassment in Hollywood is just now dawning on him. Look at the way Stone has to gently step him through what is just flagrantly obvious to the millions of women and gender-nonconforming people who live with this daily.
