‘Sesame Street’ May Be Covertly Trolling Trump, Because The Kids Know
It all comes back to 'There's A Monster At The End Of This Book'.
People are angry about Donald Trump winning the election, which is a very reasonable stance to take. However not everyone works on a late night show and so can’t express their frustration as blatantly as they might like. This leads us to one question: is Sesame Street trolling Donald Trump?
The easy answer would be: no. Why would they do that? However today the Sesame Street Twitter account seems to covertly commenting on recent events. It all started with one simple tweet:
Did you know that there’s a MONSTER on Twitter?
— Sesame Street (@sesamestreet) November 16, 2016
It soon became clear that this was a reference to the beloved 1971 book There’s A Monster At The End Of This Book, in which Sesame Street character Grover anticipates in terror what kind of fearsome monster lies on the last page of the book — only to find out that he is actually the monster. What a perfect allegory for American politics!
But of course, everyone took this tweet as a snide reference to the Twitter troll president-elect and it got many, many replies of “@realDonaldTrump delete ur account” and “yeah, we elected him”. It may have just been a way to set up the “Grover-is-the-monster” joke on Twitter, but why now?
Did that say there is a MONSTER on Twitter?

I better log off.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
HEY, STOP RETWEETING ME SO I CAN LOG OFF OKAY? Because there is a MONSTER on Twitter! It is not safe!
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
And that is a good thing because there is MONSTER at the end of it.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
Okay, this tweet storm is over. Where’s this monster? I’m the only one here.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
Grover is the most woke monster on Twitter, and that is the terrible time in which we live.
