Sam Bee Slams A “Heartbeat Bill” That Would Have Banned Abortions After Six Weeks

"If these assaults on legal abortion don't stop, the only window for terminating a pregnancy will be while the unsuccessful candidates are still drying on your inner-thigh."

Full Frontal host Samantha Bee has taken a break from the “nonstop shit-geyser of presidential news” to let loose on legislators in the state of Ohio, over a draconian anti-abortion bill that would have prohibited women from seeking an abortion as early as six weeks into their pregnancy.

The so-called “heartbeat bill”, which passed both houses of the Ohio General Assembly, would have made it illegal to perform an abortion on a foetus with a detectable heartbeat. This can be as early as six weeks after conception, at which point a woman may not even realise that they’re pregnant — “especially now since every time we wake up and realise Trump is president, we all have morning sickness,” said Bee.

The heartbeat bill was widely believed to be unconstitutional, and was earlier today vetoed by State Governor John Kasich in favour of a bill that bans abortions after 20 weeks with almost no exceptions (which, for the record, is still utterly fucked).

Point is, Bee’s tirade still absolutely stands, especially her assertion that “pro-lifers are geniuses at making a lentil-sized cluster of developing cells sound like a fully baked pageant baby.”

“I’m surprised they haven’t passed a law forcing women to put their sonogram through the puppy Snapchat filter before they decide whether to keep it,” Bee said.
