The Super Bowl had my entire attention today, despite my only experience with American football being that Thanksgiving episode of Friends.

Of course, we were all there for Rihanna – her highly anticipated halftime show marking her first live performance since 2016. Naturally, her gig was an absolute spectacle, serving some major Squid Game and Super Mario energy and seamlessly transitioning through her spotless record of club anthems, from ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ to ‘Diamonds’.

There’s no doubt about it: Rihanna stole the Super Bowl, but I also must nod to one of the show’s dark horses, ASL interpreter Justina Miles. While Rihanna kept her choreography fairly simple (she’s pregnant with her second baby, let her cook) Justina signed the live performance with serious vigour. (I wish I had this level of confidence.)

For those curious, Justina is also an athlete who competed as part of the US relay team at the 2022 Deaflympics, where she nabbed a silver medal. Her TikTok presence is similarly iconic that we saw during the Halftime show, and her Instagram is cute as hell.

Whatever Super Bowl are paying Justina, it isn’t enough. Your afternoon serotonin boost coming right up…
