"There is no space in this world for both Wooloo AND negativity."

The reception of Pokémon’s newest game, ‘Sword and Shield’ has been overwhelming positive from critics.

Pokémon’s general appeal lives in its ability to let you “tap into a sense of wonder that becomes more and more difficult to access as an adult,” according to Kotaku. “‘Sword and Shield’ does that more successfully than any Pokémon release has in years.”

Casey DeFreitas from IGN called the game “such a complete joy to play” but still recognised that ‘Sword and Shield’ could be improved on. While “better cutscenes, companion Pokemon, [and] the complete Pokédex” could’ve catapulted the game into “true legendary status,” ‘Sword and Shield’ is still more than impressive.

Even with all the drama surrounding the National Dex removal ahead of its release, ‘Sword And Shield’ has still been mostly received positively by the public too. Beyond the “superfans” angered over Game Freak’s game design and graphics, others online are enjoying the game.

In direct response to the negative hashtag #GameFreakLied, fans of the franchise used #ThankYouGameFreak to share stories of positivity around Pokémon. Sharing stories of love, friendship, diversity and self-confidence, fans were thankful for what Game Freak produced in ‘Sword and Shield’ and in Pokémon as a whole.

In regards to the game itself, people are loving the new characters featured in ‘Sword and Shield’ like the feral gremlin-type creature, Perrserker who is an evolution of Meowth.

And the coolest Grookey evolution, Rillaboom who sports a green mullet and definitely passes the vibe check.

But the Pokémon that everyone seems to be most obsessed with is Wooloo, a new, fluffy creature that is literally just a sheep. I’m not really sure what he does beyond being super cute, but I’ll allow it.

Also, his evolution, Dubwool, is somehow just really fucking powerful for some reason?

And people feel STRONGLY about protecting the little fluff ball.

Beyond Wooloo, did I mention everyone, obviously, loves the fact that you can play catch with the Pokémon?

If you ask me, ‘Sword and Shield’ has to be the year’s best game from that alone.
