Yesterday, it was revealed that Sydney’s iconic Harbour City Cinema in Haymarket would be gloriously resurrected after 15 years, and turned into a music and arts venue for a month-long festival.

Kat Dopper, the party starter behind Heaps Gay and founder of Summer Camp festival, was thrown the keys to the old building alongside a grant from the state government as part of their CBD revitalisation scheme. The resulting festival is Pleasures Playhouse: 35 nights of music and arts events in the old cinema, featuring some of Sydney’s most revered tastemakers and some of Australia’s most beloved musos.

There’ll be events from Athletica, NLV, BBGB, Leak Your Own Nudes, and performances from acts like Alex Lahey, Haiku Hands, and Hiatus Kaiyote’s Nai Palm.

Oh yeah, and we’ll also be throwing our own party too. On October 27, Check Check will present We’re Golden, a show featuring the awesome Ūla and Cry Club, with more acts to be announced. It’ll all kick off at 8pm, with tickets up for grabs this Thursday, September 8.

You can RSVP to the show right over here — cya there.
