'Now Apocalypse' is streaming now.

Sex, love, friendship, housemates, the end of the world? That’s basically the premise for Now Apocalypse, the exclusive new Stan series about a group of millennials trying to make it in Hollywood.

It’s best if we don’t get too specific about what goes down in the show (trust us, this is one you should go into knowing as little about as possible), but we can say that it’s funny, fast-paced, a little bit sci-fi, and spectacularly horny. It’s also got an incredible cast and crew – there are some big names involved with Now Apocalypse, both behind and in front of the camera. So, before you start watching, here’s your cheat sheet to where you know them from.

Karley Sciortino

What she did: Co-wrote Now Apocalypse.

Who she is: Slutever. If that name rings a bell, then you already know who Karley Sciortino is. She made her name circa 2007 with a blog – called, yes, Slutever – that documented the sex lives of the housemates she shared a squatter’s commune with. Sciortino later parlayed Slutever into a documentary series of the same name, published a book last year, and has a sex column in Vogue. She’s like a real-life-but-far-less-beige Carrie Bradshaw.

Steven Soderbergh

What he did: Executive produced Now Apocalypse.

Who he is: Oh, you might know him from such movies as Erin Brockovich, Magic Mike, Ocean’s Eleven, and Unsane, along with cult TV series The Girlfriend Experience. Steven Soderbergh is one of Hollywood’s biggest directors, having grossed a cool $2 billion at the box office over the course of his career and won an Oscar along the way.

But he’s not just a commercial big hitter – Soderbergh is basically considered the founder of the indie cinema movement and was the man behind cult flick Sex, Lies and Videotape. He’s got serious storytelling credentials and his name being attached to anything is a sign of quality.

Avan Jogia

What he does: Stars as Ulysses, the show’s main character.

Who he is: If you had access to Nickelodeon growing up (ugh, jealous), then you probably recognise Avan Jogia from his roles on iCarly and Victorious, where he starred alongside one Ariana Grande. His role on Now Apocalypse – playing a gay, sex-positive vlogger who’s started to have some oddly premonitory dreams – is a long way from Nickelodeon, though.

Kelli Berglund

What she does: Nails it as Carly, an aspiring actor and part-time cam girl.

Who she is: If Avan Jogia’s waving goodbye to Nickelodeon with Now Apocalypse, Kelli Berglund’s giving a middle finger wholesome child stardom with her definitely-not-PG role as Carly.

She’s previously appeared in Disney productions like Lab Rats, Kickin It, and How to Build a Better Boy, and even spent some time in Australia to film the movie Going for Gold. Wikipedia describes her as an actress, model, dancer and singer, which is what I hope my Instagram bio will one day read.

Gregg Araki

What he did: Wrote, directed and executive produced Now Apocalypse.

Who he is: Having directed episodes of 13 Reasons Why, Riverdale, and the Heathers reboot, Gregg Araki knows a thing or two about making bingeable TV. But he’s also the guy behind the likes of Mysterious Skin, Kaboo,m and The Doom Generation, movies that tackle big, tough topics… and some apocalypse themes to boot. So in short: he’s not afraid of touching the stuff others won’t.

Beau Mirchoff

What he does: Charms as Ford, Ulysses’ housemate.

Who he is: You’ve probably seen Beau Mirchoff in the TV show Awkward, where he starred as Matty McKibben. Or maybe with Ellen Page and Diego Luna in the Flatliners remake, the movie about a bunch of medical students who try to cheat death. Or in Scary Movie 4, The Grudge 3, a bunch of Desperate Housewives episodes, or the sci-fi movie I Am Number Four. He’s been busy, man.

Roxane Mesquida

Roxane Mesquida in Now Apocalypse

What she does: Plays Severine, an astrobiological theorist and Ford’s sort-of girlfriend.

Who she is: Roxane Mesquida was in Gregg Araki’s film Kaboom, where she played, and I quote, a “witch with rejection issues”. She was also conniving royal Béatrice Grimaldi in Gossip Girl, starred in the New Zealand film The Most Fun You Can Have Dying and appeared in a Marilyn Manson music video.

She’s also a model so you’ve probably seen her on, y’know, billboards and stuff.
