Racist flyers targeting Chinese students  have been plastered around two of the largest universities in Melbourne, apparently by a leading white supremacist group.

The offensive flyers were displayed at the University of Melbourne and Monash University in Clayton, several Chinese-Australian media outlets have reported. They have since been removed.

“Attention! No Chinese are allowed within this area. If intrusion occurs, deportation will likely happen,” they read, according to a translation from blogger Cheng Liu at Crossing the Wall.

The posters reportedly included a URL to the website of a group that bills itself as Australia’s “premier National Socialist Youth Organisation”. The group shared several news reports about the flyers on Twitter, along with the message “nonwhites get PRANKED”.

The logos of the National Union of Students (NUS), the Monash Chinese Student Association (MCSA) and the University of Melbourne Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA), were also included on the flyers. The groups have since issued a joint statement saying the logos were used without their permission.

“Our societies have been maliciously slandered by these notices,” the statement read. It also warned that the flyers create “a harmful and poisonous atmosphere for all students”.

Both universities have also issued statements condemning the flyers, and have shared relevant CCTV images with Victorian police.
