The surviving members of Nirvana reunited on stage for a six-song set at California’s Cal Jam festival over the weekend.

The reunion wasn’t that much of a surprise: Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl had been teasing he had something up his sleeve for the festival, which he launched last year.

He was joined on stage at the end of the Foo’s set by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and their longtime touring guitarist Pat Smear. They tore through six Nirvana classics, including ‘Breed’, ‘Serve The Servants’, ‘In Bloom’, ‘All Apologies’, and — of course — ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.

Deer Tick’s John McCauley led them through the first few tracks, before Runaways guitarist and ‘I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll’ hitmaker Joan Jett took over vocal duties for the final three songs. For the closer, ‘All Apologies’, Novoselic handed over his bass to Brody Dalle while he jumped on the accordion.

The performance marked only the second time the surviving members of Nirvana have reunited — the first being after the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2014.

Of course, this being 2018, footage of the entire set has now appeared online. Watch it below.
