Nicki Minaj has been the source of so many memes that it’s hard to remember them all, but now, it’s time for her verse in 2009 Young Money track ‘Bed Rock’ to take centre-stage. Well, one line, specifically — “Okay I get it let me think I guess its my turn now” — which turns out can be used for a lot of contexts.

In a similar vein to the use of Rihanna’s “that was quite a show, very entertaining” lyric from ‘Take A Bow’, the line has been clipped from the music video to be applied to all matter of things. It’s very dumb, and also, to steal Rihanna’s bit, very entertaining.

If you don’t remember ‘Bed Rock’, you’d be forgiven. The track is from 2009 — released before Minaj’s debut album Pink Friday, though it did pop up on some deluxe editions — and was a collab between artists on Lil Wayne’s label Young Money, which means Minaj was just one of many now-huge names on the track.

Drake, Wayne, Tyga, Gudda Gudda and Lloyd all feature, but the important part, for our needs, is this one line by Minaj.

It can be used to describe more or less everything, including historical moments, such as when Shakespeare gave over his talent to J. Cole (we probably would have said Nicki, but whatever).

It can also describe whatever’s coming next this year — aliens, killer wasps, another pandemic, the rise of fascism across the ‘free world’. Fun!

It can also be used to slight celebrities, either by bringing up their manslaughter charges or flopping singles. There’s also the literal interpretation. It all works.
