I don't think anyone saw this coming.

It’s been only a couple of weeks since we were blessed with the much-anticipated official trailer for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and we already have something new to get excited about. Though drawing heavily from portions of the already-released footage, a new clip has now surfaced online featuring the film’s official original score.

Distilling the characteristics of the two duelling superheroes into the simple symbolism of “day” and “night”, the song that director Zack Snyder’s decided on is markedly more optimistic than the first soundtrack he trialled. In fact, it really looks set to change the direction of the film itself.

In this version, instead of battling with the complexities of humanity and morality as first intended, Superman’s heroism is left totally unquestioned. As if set in a period before Man of Steel or in fact a universe where its events didn’t take place, the protagonist in the film’s sequel is not only a “champion of the sun” — a classic reference to his symbiotic relationship with solar energy — but also a “master” of  innocuous pursuits like “karate” and “friendship”. Indeed, for everyone.

I don’t know about Batman though. It sounds like there’s something weird going on there.

“Christian Bale wouldn’t have put up with this shit.”

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in cinemas from March 25, 2016. This clip was posted by Albert Lopez and is clearly not a trailer at all.
