Today is a black day. Internet Explorer, the undisputed King of the Browsers, is to be retired by Microsoft in favour of a newer, slicker model. According to The Verge, Microsoft will be replacing IE with an as-yet-unnamed primary browser that is still in development, and while IE will still exist in vestigial form for compatibility reasons, it’s days as your go-to means of surfing the Information Superhighway are done.

IE’s market share has been in decline for a long time, eaten up by the advent of Chrome and the passing-on of a large portion of its elderly users. But some of us will never forget those first exciting steps into the world of the internet that we took with IE, one two-minute-long-pageload at a time. RIP in piece, old buddy.
