Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig should just host the Oscars.

We all know this. We have all known this for some time. Whenever the pair get up to introduce an award, they are always funny, and smart, and breezy — exactly what the host of a major (and majorly long) ceremony needs. Need proof? Just soak up their far too short stint as presenters at the 2020 Oscars tonight.

Tasked with handing out two gongs, the pair started off their time presenting with a tantrum.

“We’re upset,” Wiig said. “Oh, are we upset.”

“We’re PO’d,” Rudolph said, her lips snarling.

Of course, it was all a bit, designed to attract the attention of the famed and lauded directors in the audience.

“That was an act,” Wiig said.

“We were acting,” Rudolph added.

“We just know that there are a lot of directors here tonight,” Kristen Wiig smiled.

“And we just want them to know that we can do more than make comedies,” Rudolph said.

But that wasn’t all. Next, the pair handed out the Oscar for Costume Design the only way they knew how — by starting the whole thing with a bizarre, karaoke-style medley of popular songs.

“Wait, we can’t just skip straight to the award,” Rudolph said, before launching into a mash-up of ‘These Boots Were Made for Walking’, ‘Devil With a Blue Dress’, and pretty much every pop song that includes a reference to some article of clothing.
