After conquering the worlds of breakfast radio, stand-up comedy and hip-hop, Matt Okine has turned his focus to TV with a new show airing on Stan next month.

The Other Guy is a six-part comedy series co-written by Okine and Becky Lucas, whose previous writing credits include Please Like Me. The show follows Okine’s character, AJ, as he navigates life after finding out his girlfriend of 10 years cheated on him with his best friend.

The story is based on Okine’s stand-up show of the same name and both are influenced by his own real life experiences. The show features a great local cast including Harriet Dyer (Love Child), Christiaan Van Vuuren (Bondi Hipsters), Adam Briggs and Michael Hing, as well as Northern Irish actor Valene Kane (Rogue One and The Fall).

It’s been produced by Aquarius Films, the team behind the hugely successful Lion starring Dev Patel.

This morning Stan released the first trailer for The Other Guy and it’s gotten us extremely pumped for the show’s release. Think Netflix’s Love meets Secret Life Of Us but set in Sydney (yay) and shot at beloved at community radio institution FBi.

The Other Guy premieres on Stan on August 17.
