A first trailer for Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is here, and we’re sorry to report that the original Miss Honey will not be making an appearance.

But before you freak out about the prospect of the beloved 1996 classic Matilda fading into obscurity — this isn’t a remake of that movie. Instead, it’s an adaptation of the stage musical that premiered on Broadway in 2013, featuring music and lyrics by Australian comedian Tim Minchin.

The musical itself is of course an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s 1988 book about Matilda Wormwood, a cerebral kid with a neglectful family who reads a lot and dabbles in telekinesis. It’s an adaptation of an adaptation, you guys! It’s all fine.

The Netflix musical will star Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull, who in the trailer can be seen donning military garb and flinging a small child over a fence. Classic Trunchbull!

12-year-old actress Alisha Weir stars as Matilda, alongside Andrea Riseborough and Stephen Graham, who will play her lousy parents. No word of who has the honour of playing Bruce Bogtrotter as of yet.
