The period of time between now and Christmas has many names, but its unofficial title is Mariah Carey season, and Mariah Carey herself has declared it so.

As the clock struck midnight on Halloween night, Mariah Carey posted a video to her social media. The video sees Carey take a candy cane style baseball bat to a trio of carved pumpkins to the sound of her eternal hit ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’.

The pumpkin trio was each etched with a word, making up the phrase “it’s not time.” But Maria smashes each one while wearing a sparkling red gown complete with white fluffy sleeves.

The now-viral video ends with a wholesome montage of Mariah Carey opening presents, waving decorations around, and tossing fake snow into the air. The final shot of the video is a message from Carey that reads, “IT’S TIME! Smash that pumpkin and treat it like pie…’cause we still gotta get throughTthanksgiving.”

Thanks to her now-classic Christmas jingle, a long-running joke for many years has revolved around Mariah Carey powering herself up for the lead up to Christmas every year. Between Mariah and her twin Christmas spirit, Michael Bublé, it feels little else gets airplay.

Like clockwork, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ enters the charts every year around the beginning of November. According to chart data Twitter account, the song has already re-entered the US charts.

‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ was the lead single off Carey’s 1994 Christmas album, Merry Christmas. Safe to say that it has only gained popularity with time.

I love #MariahSZN as much as the next human. However, as always, my heart goes out to every retail and fast food worker who will undoubtedly hear her famous jingle enough times in a single shift to last a lifetime.
